PROGRAM FORMAT Gifted students in grades 7-12 participate in a seminar pull-out class that meets monthly; students are served in Honors and AP courses. The curriculum in the gifted and talented program follows the state-mandated skills and the program Scope and Sequence building and extending skill development. Students are involved in cross-curricular explorations on topics or creative problem solving during this time.
The program focuses a great deal upon communication skills and affective development at this level, recognizing both as vital to productivity in life. The secondary program is invaluable in providing students a sense of “gifted continuity” which honors continued explorations in the creative process and recognizes that adolescence is a time of stress for most gifted teens and thereby providing them a safe haven for affective growth.
